I was 11 when I got my first deer even though I was raised in the country I never really had an interest till after my grandpa passed away. any way it’s opening weekend there’s was probably over 450 hunters in the woods thought Kentucky.(opening weekend is like Christmas here in Kentucky) We left the house around 5:30 and went to Boyd house.(Boyd being an amazing hunter/family friend/and an amazing guide)We packed are gear and loaded up the ranger .We got to the stand(which was about an half mile away) anyway it was almost 6am we were all in the stand(if you’ve ever been in a stand you know that three people in a 4×4 is extremely tight)I think I almost fell asleep a few times. It was a pretty nice morning it was about 45 out(that may seem cold but if you’ve ever had on your full winter hunting gear on it’s actually kind of warm) a little bit cloudy but it helped not get blinded by the sun.I got nervous when we hadn’t seen a deer close enough to shoot and it was almost 9:30.(I didn’t tell Boyd that i had to be somewhere at 1pm that may seem like a lot of time but it takes almost 2 hours to skin a deer)It was almost 10:15 when all of a sudden we saw 3 deer walking along the fence line(1 doe and 2 yearlings)so I positioned the gun and aimed and shot I got the doe but know the clock was on we still had to get home skin and clean a deer and then we had to find room in the freezer by the time we did all that it was 12:45 so I had to take a quick shower and get ready. That is the story of my first deer.
