Today was opening day of turkey season. But do to everything going, on the only way my Dad and I could hunt is if it were on public land. We were up at 4:30, by the time we got there it was already 5:30. Immediately we were faced with a problem. Five cars were already parked within two miles of where we were hunting, and two cars within 1,000 yards. As you can see we were already off to a rocky start.

We parked, got are shotguns out, and started down the path until we saw boot prints. I got nervous (we don’t wear orange do to turkeys eyesight) So Dad and I decided to turn back because we didn’t want to get shot. We walked out of the woods, and by that time it was already dawn.

We decided to walk around a bit and called a few times (with a box call ). We wandered around for about an hour, it was almost 7:30 and we hadn’t heard anything, so we decided to call it a day. That was my first public land turkey hunt.

Please leave a comment and tell me what you think.
